The Detroit Lions prevailed over the visiting New York Giants with an epic comeback win in overtime. The Lions escaped with a 34-27 win in a game that featured over 1,000 combined yards of offense, a game in which Detroit never led in regulation time.

Interim Giants coach Mike Kafka defended his decision to pass on a FG against the Detroit Lions in the final minutes of regulation Sunday.

Gibbs had a career day, finishing the dramatic comeback win with a 69-yard touchdown run on the first play of overtime against the Giants.

His teammates made sure it was. Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson sacked New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston on fourth down on the ensuing possession to seal the 34-27 win for Detroit. Gibbs finished with 219 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with 45 receiving yards and a touchdown on 11 catches.

Alas, it was not enough as the Detroit Lions charged back in the fourth quarter to tie the game 27-27, erasing a 10-point Giants lead, before ultimately snatching the victory from the visiting team on Jahmyr Gibbs’ 69-yard touchdown run for the 34-27 win.

Kalif Raymond came up in a big way in the final minute of the first half, helping the Lions cut New York's lead to 20-17.

Unfortunately for the Giants, Jahmyr Gibbs put up three touchdowns and the Lions rallied to win. Many fans were understandably frustrated, but so, too, was Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers. The young star who is out for the season shared his thoughts in a now-deleted post on X.
