Real Madrid issued a statement on Tuesday opposing La Liga's plans to move Barcelona's match at Villarreal to the U.S. in December, arguing the decision would compromise the competitive integrity of Spain's top flight.

Barcelona and Villarreal are seeking permission from the football authorities to play in Miami in December. Fan groups of the respective clubs have already threatened legal action if the plan progresses, and now Real have expressed their opposition to the move.

On Monday, the RFEF approved La Liga’s request for the match to be played at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium in December.
