A flood watch is in effect for Parker, Tarrant, Dallas, Collin, Rockwall, Ellis, Montague, Cooke, Grayson, Fannin, Lamar, Young, Jack, Wise, Denton, Collin, Hunt, Delta and Hopkins counties through Thursday morning.

The past 72 hours have featured relentless rains across the southern Plains, with wide swaths of 2 to 5 inches and totals in some spots exceeding half a foot. Walters, in southwest Oklahoma, has logged 10.14 inches since Sunday night, and another round of heavy rains is slated for Thursday night.

Heavy rain that started overnight continues Thursday, bringing a risk of flooding before a round possible thunderstorms moves in.

The old saying goes “April showers bring May flowers” but Mother Nature is ignoring the calendar with multiple rounds of rain expected in coming days.
