Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal had a classic reaction to the commitment from 5-star OT Jackson Cantwell.

Jackson Cantwell, the top-rated player in the 2026 recruiting class, committed to Miami over offers from Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon, among others.

Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck is progressing in his rehab from the UCL injury he suffered when at Georgia.

Jackson Cantwell and his parents once drove 1,200 miles through the heart of SEC Country to visit LSU, Georgia and Alabama. “We had a pretty cool setup,” the Missouri native who is ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the 247Sports Composite said in December before the Under Armour All-American game.

Head coach Mario Cristobal brought in Cam Ward from Washington State via the transfer portal last offseason, and that led to a 10-3 season for the Hurricanes while Ward was one of the finalists for the Heisman Trophy. He was also the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans.

It would not be long before the Miami Hurricanes had their star quarterback ready to throw the ball, and now Carson Beck is fully prepared to go with summer workouts here.

Cantwell (6-foot-7.5, 300 pounds) ranks as the nation's No. 1 player by both On3 and Rivals. He plays for Nixa (Missouri) High School, where he earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors in December.

Carson Beck will be the one to lead the charge for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes in the upcoming NCAAF season.
