Showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin have finally confirmed that The Last of Us Season 3 will officially center around the story of a different protagonist. This comes after more than two weeks since the second installment of the acclaimed HBO drama had wrapped up its seven-episode run.
Though the numbers were all sunshine and roses for the second season premiere, the data does show a substantial decline in viewers after episode two — which was when Abby killed Joel, another contentious creative move.
Given the events of The Last of Us Season 2, it shouldn't be a surprise that next season will be very different. Catherine O'Hara has already described Season 3 as Abby's story, but now, The Last of Us showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have confirmed that Kaitlyn Dever's character is taking the lead role.
