Several Baltimore area communities are planning to hold "No Kings" protests on Saturday, June 14, joining what organizers are calling "a nationwide day of defiance."

On Saturday, an estimated 2,000 "No Kings" events will be held around the country to protest what organizers call the Trump administration's "authoritarian" actions. More than 40 are planned across Maryland,

The parade was the spectacle event Trump had long wanted. It also helped sparked the largest mass opposition to him since his inauguration 145 days earlier.

The"No Kings" protests are planned to oppose what they see as Trump's power grab. The number of planned events is nearly double that of the April 5 "Hands Off" protest that saw millions of Americans turn out in big and small cities nationwide.

A flagship "No Kings" march and rally are planned in Philadelphia, but no events are scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., where the military parade will take place on Trump's 79th birthday. Organizers of the protests say they want to take attention away from the parade.
