The New York Mets added to their collection of outfielders by acquiring Baltimore Orioles veteran Cedric Mullins two hours before Major League Baseball's trade deadline, MLB.com reports. Mullins, who turns 31 Oct.

But Mullins, who has pop in his bat, speed on the base paths and rates as an above average defender in center, fits the bill as a grade-A upgrade, even if he amounts to a rental bat. He figures to also be the perfect addition to the bottom of the Mets batting order, which has struggled for much of this season.

According to MLB.com, Springer was feeling better a day after he was struck on the left ear flap of his helmet by a sinker in Monday's 11-4 loss to Baltimore, but he still ended up sitting out both ends of a doubleheader Tuesday.
