Natasha Buchanan said her inspiration behind the walk is her 7-year-old son Zander Buchanan. He’s an active child, and by looking at him, you’d never know he has hydrocephalus.

Jones Beach does not allow dogs. There is no fee to register for the walk and no minimum fundraising requirement, but if you raise $150, you will receive an official walk t-shirt.

Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, state DCNR and local legislators walked Presque Isle State Park's beaches to check for erosion.
