Texas outfielder Adolis García, catcher Jonah Heim and right-hander Josh Sborz were among 66 players who became free agents Friday when they weren’t offered 2026 contracts.

The Rangers non-tendered the contracts of outfielder Adolis García and catcher Jonah Heim before Friday night’s roster deadline, a person with direct knowledge of the decisions confirmed to The Dallas Morning News, and ended their multi-year tenures with the team.

The Texas Rangers are aiming to get younger and less expensive next season. Their non-tender moves on Friday reflected that desire.

Friday’s deadline is for setting the roster ahead of the winter meetings and the Rule 5 draft. The Rangers also added three players to the 40-man roster: Right-handers David Davalillo and Leandro Lopez and first baseman/outfielder Abimelec Ortiz.
