Earlier this year, a New York judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by Nicklaus Companies against Nicklaus that sought to prevent the 18-time major winner from using his name, image and likeness to promote his golf course design business after he left the company.
The lawsuit stemmed from Nicklaus alleging his former company falsely claimed Nicklaus entertained a $750 million offer to become a part of the LIV Golf league, which is financially supported by Saudi Arabia, and that Nicklaus had dementia and was therefore unable to manage his affairs, according to Golf Digest.
Nicklaus Companies, Jack Nicklaus’ former golf course services business, said it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after a Florida court ordered the company to pay its founder $50 million in a defamation suit.
