The Department of Homeland Security on Thursday told hundreds of thousands of migrants that their permission to live and work in the United States had been revoked and they should leave the country, according to a copy of the notice obtained by CNN.
Facilities for migrants at the base currently can hold fewer than 200 detainees, and there are no immediate plans to expand that capacity, according to two Defense Department officials. Like others interviewed for this article, they spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Trump administration considers the mission sensitive.
The Department of Homeland Security is emailing notifications to individuals who entered the U.S. under the CHNV parole program, established in 2022.
