Opponents say the Ten Commandments and prayer measures infringe on others’ religious freedom, and more lawsuits are expected. The American Civil Liberties Union, Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the Freedom From Religion Foundation have said they will file lawsuits opposing the Ten Commandments measure.

A group of North Texas parents is suing the state and their students' school districts after Gov. Greg Abbott signed a bill requiring public schools to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, ACLU, Americans United for Separation of Church and State and Freedom From Religion Foundation also announced they will sue. Next Generation Action Network also announced it sued. More lawsuits and plaintiffs are expected to challenge the law.
