President Donald Trump’s trade war strategy is yielding results, but economists warn of potential risks to the global economy.

By imposing tariffs on dozens of countries starting August 7, the world's largest economy has madea decisive shift toward protectionism. Elsewhere, trade is becoming increasingly regionalized.

“Mexico will continue to pay a 25% Fentanyl Tariff, 25% Tariff on Cars, and 50% Tariff on Steel, Aluminum, and Copper. Additionally, Mexico has agreed to immediately terminate its Non Tariff Trade Barriers, of which there were many,” Trump wrote. He did not provide specifics.
