Los Angeles has been beset by fires this year, and it seems like every fire department around has done everything it can to help. One department, though, simply doesn’t have enough trucks that are in good enough shape to use: The Los Angeles Fire Department.

County firefighters poured into Pacific Palisades to assist the city. But it’s unclear how many were near Altadena when the Eaton fire began there.

According to the California Energy Commission, more than 99,000 zero-emission vehicles were sold in Los Angeles County in 2024 alone, including battery electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell electric vehicles.

After losing their homes in the Eaton Fire, an Altadena neighborhood vowed to find the firefighter who left them a heartwarming letter of perseverance.

Officers tried to get into the vehicle to save the driver, but, 'due to the intensity of the flames and heat, they were unable to rescue the occupant,' the department said.

The Jan. 8 handwritten note titled "To whom it may concern," was left in Anthony Nesburn's steel mailbox by the Engine 31 C Platoon, signed by Levi, Steve, Matt and Jason.
