Graeme Abel has resigned his position as Bay FC's director of domestic scouting for college and professional players, less than a week after he was named to the post.

Bay FC head of domestic scouting Graeme Abel has resigned after just a week on the job amid allegations of verbal abuse while he was coach at the University of Oregon. Abel was an assistant coach for the U.

The allegations at Oregon included berating players during practices and after games, and throwing and kicking objects during locker-room tirades.

Bay FC, aware of the allegations against Abel, did vet the coach beyond what was required by his Tier II status. Bay FC talked to Oregon’s athletic director concerning Abel’s resignation in October during the initial process, according to a team source with knowledge of the interview process.
