Firefly Aerospace will deliver five payloads to the Moon’s south pole in 2029 using its Blue Ghost lander and Elytra orbital vehicle.

A Central Texas space company is on a victory lap. After successfully touching down on the Moon this past spring, a feat others have failed recently, Firefly Aerospace is again headed to the lunar surface.

NASA on Tuesday announced that Firefly won a $176.7 million task order for the delivery of two rovers and three scientific instruments to the lunar south pole in 2029. The award comes just months after Blue Ghost became the first privately built lander to survive a landing on the rocky satellite.
