The Kansas City Chiefs needed a win on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and a win they got. With the Chiefs trailing 20-17 in the final seconds and driving for the winning score, quarterback Patrick Mahomes was sacked on a crucial third-down play by the Colts' Kwity Paye and Laiatu Latu.

Early in the third quarter, the Chiefs announced that starting right guard Trey Smith had been ruled out for the remainder of the game due to an ankle injury. Smith had participated in the opening half but did not come back onto the field after halftime, with Mike Caliendo taking over at guard.
