Jets player shares recovery update after being shot in New York: ‘Starting to breathe on my own’
New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd said he is "starting to breathe on my own now" days after he was shot in Manhattan early Sunday morning.
In March, Boyd, a defensive cornerback and specialty teams player, signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract to play for the Jets, according to the team. He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during team scrimmage in August and hasn't played since.
The Jets' special teamer and cornerback was in critical condition Sunday after suffering a shot to the abdomen. He shared an update on social media.

Boyd was shot in the abdomen in Midtown Manhattan and rushed to the hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens finally start to churn out yards, answering the Jets' touchdown with a 45-yard drive that stalls at the Jets' 13. Tyler Loop connects on a 31-yard field goal, but the Jets will take it as they lead 7-3 with 1:39 left in the first half.
