The Pete Alonso saga continues this MLB offseason, with the New York Mets seemingly closing in on re-signing the All-Star slugger. However, there’s a bittersweet twist to this development. There are still plenty of players available in MLB free agency this offseason.

Shortly after it was reported Tuesday night that New York Mets owner Steve Cohen "was back in conversation with" representatives for free-agent first baseman Pete Alonso regarding a potential reunion in part because "it feels like Alonso desperately hopes to return" to the organization,

This free agency period might not have gone the way Pete Alonso anticipated but the four-time All-Star reportedly isn't looking to make any changes to his representation. Per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet: "A source said MLB agents have recently been informed they cannot contact Pete Alonso.
