Scott McLaughlin, the 2024 Indianapolis 500 pole-sitter, crashed during practice Sunday on the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. McLaughlin did a half-spin and crashed hard into the Turn 2 wall.

Scott McLaughlin crashed his Team Penske car in afternoon practice and ruined his chance to repeat last year’s Indianapolis 500 pole-winning run.

A year after locking out the front row, none of the three Team Penske cars were able to make a run at the pole position for the 2025 Indianapolis 500. Josef Newgarden, Scott McLaughlin and Will Power all posted times in the top 12 during Saturday’s qualifying session.
