The Senate narrowly approved President Donald Trump's signature second-term policy bill, a nearly 900-page package packed with tax cuts and other campaign promises, in a major legislative victory for the president that came after a tense debate within his party that stretched on for nearly four days.

The Senate passed Trump's "big, beautiful bill," after Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski flipped from an undecided vote to a "yes" after her state received additional help. Vice President JD Vance was the tie-breaking vote.

After a late shift by Senator Lisa Murkowski to yes, the legislation now returns to the House, where its passage remains far from certain.
