WNBA action has officially hit the court at Chase Center. The Golden State Valkyries played their first game as a WNBA franchise Friday night in a 71-62 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. While it wasn't a winning effort, it was safe to say the crowd was entertained.

After a long, but action-packed winter filled with blockbuster trades and stunning free agent moves, the 2025 WNBA season finally arrived on Friday, and the opening night action did not disappoint. We saw an upset win in D.

The fans in the packed arena were decked out in matching purple T-shirts emblazoned with the phrase “First of a Lifetime.”

Opening weekend in the WNBA has come and gone with eight matchups taking place in the first three days of the regular season. History was made with the first WNBA regular season game ever being played at the Chase Center for Valkyries vs.

The Valkyries had a historic crowd for their home opener which left even seasons veterans like Tiffany Hayes and Julie Vanloo impressed.
