West Nile virus found in mosquito samples from multiple Allegheny County neighborhoods
Allegheny County Health Department officials announced mosquitoes collected in certain parts of the county earlier this month tested positive for West Nile virus. Samples found to have the virus were taken July 8 from Wilkinsburg,
Dr. Letosha Gale-Lowe said the county has noticed a rise in the mosquito population following recent rains and warmer months.
Three dead birds in Sacramento County were found to have contracted the virus as activity ramped up in Placer County.
