Astrud Gilberto passed away at 83 in June. She was the vocalist on The Girl From Ipanema, the iconic 1964 Brazilian Bossa Nova song that introduced much of the USA to the genre. She collaborated with Stan Getz (legendary saxophonist), Joao Gilberto (guitarist-vocalist whom she was married to, and Antonio Carlos Jobim (songwriter / composer).
