This is Teddy Bear and he is CHATTY. Teddy’s a rescued North American porcupine taken in by Idaho’s Earthfire Institute. He’s internet famous for talking while he eats corn and pumpkin and other snacks. But most adult porcupines don’t make noises. Teddy’s a bon vivant. Wildlife biologist Dr. Tim Bean explains what’s happening: “Those are the noises that a baby porcupine (called a porcupette) makes when it’s nursing. Those noises stimulate milk let-down in the mom.” Milk let-down is when hormones
