Today is Antarctica day. It commemorates the signing of the Antarctica Treaty on the 1st of December 1959. The longevity of the Treaty shows that nations can come together and work to protect part of the planet for the benefit of all humanity. Antarctica is a place dedicated to peace and science, with mutually agreed rules about how the continent is managed. It is arguably the world’s most successful treaty.
