After years of dancing around questions about infection control and water safety at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, last weekend there was finally an acceptance that there probably was a link between infections and the hospital’s water system. Patients at the QEUH deserve reassurance that the situation is now being dealt with properly, but today, when I asked the Cabinet Secretary for Health for details, he just talked about the national monitoring policy. This simply isn’t good enough.
